Wedding Traditions - Planning a Wedding

Friday - Sep, 3 2010

Well I have never actually planned one myself but have had a lot of friends who have had weddings and been in a quite a few, also been the best man for some.  Weddings are often something you have never planned before so you seek out a lot of help.  Having never planned one I am just going to list a few tips that I have seen work well and perhaps send you to a few other links.

  • Do not try to do everything yourself.  Get help (like here) search online, ask friends, or even get a professional if you think you need it.
  • If you are the bride and the groom is a laid back guy... Do not try to hound him about preference in shades of pink.  It will only make things much, much harder for both of you.
  • If you are the groom and the bride is hounding you about different shades of pink... Just pick one.  You really probably don't care or notice so just do it.  And if you do just pick the one you like.
  • Shop around!  Online obviously is a great place to compare prices, but also smaller flower shops and such will give great deals.
  • Use store wedding registries.  These make it much easier for people to get things for you and you know you will get things you love for you wedding.  Try doing at least two different stores as well.
  • A lot of people say "DON'T STRESS" but really there have been so many studies to show that wording like that focuses on the negative so instead you will stress.  'BE CALM' or 'BE HAPPY' or anything positive is much better reinforcement when things might get a little bit stressful

So here is a little bit of wedding planning advice.  Since I don't currently have a lot to offer on the topic (but might have to do research for personal use soon) here are some other helpful links.
